Three things that motivate me to blog

the books

I think this one is one everyone’s list because without books there would be no book bloggers, am I right? Before I started blogging, I read a good book and I might’ve added it to Goodreads (anyone want to be friends with me?) but that’s it. I never got the chance to share my excitement and love for a book with anyone because people in my real life aren’t into books as much as I am. But now that I’m blogging, I’ve found a place where I can fangirl over my favourite books, complain about how long I have to wait for a new release compared to other (English speaking) countries, where I can vent about the books that bother me, etc.

the community

The book blogging community definitely keep me motivated to blog. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been inspired to ‘step up my game’ after seeing other book blogs. There are just so many good bloggers with in depth reviews, interesting discussion posts, and lovely personalities, I can’t help but be inspired and motivated to become as good as they are.

the writing

It’s no secret that I love to write and I’m not just talk about blogging. I’ve finished my YA contemporary novel about two months ago and I’m currently working on another one. I’ve only been blogging for a couple of months but, let me tell you, it has definitely helped me improve my writing. If you want to be good at something, you have to practice, and it turns out that blogging is great practice! I love it.

Three people who inspire me to blog

my favourite authors

Like I said, I want to be as good at writing as I possibly can be. Someday, I want to be able to write a YA book similar to those of my favourite authors (Adam Silvera, John Green, Patrick Ness) I think they are absolutely brilliant, but I’m also not naive. I know it took years and years and years of hard work to get their writing to the level it’s at now. A lot of authors also had to start out small (think of J.K. Rowling). So, while blogging might seem like a useless endeavour, I know many authors started out this way and that really inspires me to keep going.

my fellow bloggers

I’ve already mentioned this in the previous section, but I’m going to say it again: you guys inspire me every day.

And that’s it. I don’t really have a third one 🙂

One thing I hope that will improve the world?

Jeesh, that’s a tough one. I’m practically spiralling into an existential crisis just thinking about it. After some thinking, I’m going to settle for this: I hope that, one day, I’ll be able to publish my books and help people feel understood and loved through my writing, as my favourite authors have done for me.

My Challenge question: if you had to give up writing OR reading, which one would you choose?

giphy (1)

I’m basically making myself choose between the two things I love most and I really hate myself for even thinking about a world where I couldn’t do both. Having said that I would choose…argh!! this is so hard… okay, I would choose writing. I would choose writing because I just can’t live without being able to dive into my favourite worlds or go along with the adventures of an infinite amount of characters. Sure, I could write some myself, but let’s be honest: no one enjoys their writing as much as they do other people’s. It’s like watching yourself on video. A clear no-go.

I nominate…5 wonderful bloggers

    • I might do that someday when I’m a bit more confident about it 😄 Are you going to share? Or have you already done so and I’ve somehow completely missed it?? In which case I’d feel like an idiot..

Yes, please add me! I’m Lauren Hanaway on GR too 🙂

  2. Yay, I’m so happy you did this ❤ The community is one of the best things about blogging, and I can say that I have improved my writing A LOT just as well just by writing blog posts and everything else. Also, congrats on finishing your YA contemporary and best of luck for the second book you're working on! ❤
